1992 FORD MUSTANG LX SSP “Police pursuit vehicle, Amazing condition, unmolested, all cop!!”

The car on offer here is this extremely rare and well documented 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5-liter “Special Service Package” (SSP). The Special Service Package was offered by Ford to law enforcement agencies around the country. The cars featured mechanical and performance enhancements specifically designed for the rigors of Police work. These cars were not available to the general public. This specific car was put into service in Tampa Florida with Troop C. This RED unit was one of only three red cars placed into service with the Florida Highway Patrol. This particular unit was driven its entire service life by only one Lieutenant. He was so fastidious with the car that he waxed the paint off it and forced the department to re paint the unit while still in service. Only supervisor’s cars were ordered in Automatic so this was ordered as an Lieutenant (LT) package from the start. A large photo of the LT and the unit are part of the documentation. After service, the low mileage car was decommissioned and sold off through a state auction it was purchased by the CopCarsonline Lakeland Florida Museum in Lakeland Florida and featured in the “Cop cars online” exhibit. There with the help of the retired LT the original parts and pieces of the unit were re acquired and re-installed to its present in-service configuration. The car stayed in the museum collection and was displayed all over the state by the FHP for community events.
The state of Florida decreed that all Police cars used by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) were to wear the traditional tan and brown paint scheme. This RED CAR, ONE OF ONLY 3, is the exception to that rule. The museum decided to sell the unit and the current owner purchased and brought it to CT. The car was then the recipient of a comprehensive paint correction, which included hours of wet sanding and polishing the paint is gorgeous with amazing shine and luster. Numerous mechanical items were addressed from full brakes front and rear, Shocks, Struts, tower adjusters, all powertrain fluid and filters were replaced. New tires and restored correct original rims. Refurbished driver’s seat frame, new exhaust and many other parts changed and work completed totaling close to $9,000 in receipts.
This 1992 SSP Mustang LX has all of its original VIN tags on each panel and has a pristine complete original interior. All lights and sirens and Public Address system are fully functional and original to the car. The original buck tag is in place and the car is extensively documented. Large three ring binder that features the original Florida FHP title, magazine articles featuring the car, additional FHP gas and fleet cards, museum bio, plus original receipts for all of the work completed in the last 7 years and 2,000 miles. This is one of the rarest notches ever and has unique originality down to an actual FHP plate.
It spent its entire retired life in a museum and on a lift in a climate controlled garage.
Go find another, you will not, this is the only one that exists in its original unmolested and pristine condition. Fox bodies are on the move, and this is a stand out car in a fast appreciating segment of the collector car world and this may be the finest of its kind on the planet.
