1974 Triumph TR6 “One family owned car, ONLY 34,734 MILES!! wonderful original condition, all paperwork and documentation from new. Time capsule”!!
VIN CF19699U
The car on offer here is a wonderfully original, One-Owner 1974 Triumph TR6. The car was originally purchased from Hillco Sports Inc. in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania by the current owner and her late husband on August 29, 1974. It is finished in its correct original Carmine Red paint over tan interior trim the odometer shows just over 34k miles we believe the mileage to be original. The car has its original 2.5-liter inline-six, paired with its original four-speed manual gearbox. Driving lights and a luggage rack have been installed, and a factory AM/FM radio is equipped. Recent work includes a tuneup, carburetor service, hose replacements, as well as flushing the brake lines and installing a new battery. This TR6 is now offered with extensive records, factory books, service manuals, literature, spare parts, and a clean Connecticut transferable registration.
The Carmine Red (code 82) paint finish shows minor chips other imperfections around the car as would be expected of a 47 year old vehicle. Rectangular driving lights and an Amco luggage rack were mounted in the mid-1970s, and twin bullet-style door mirrors and rubber bumper overriders also present. The factory top with zip-down rear window has been retained, and the plastic windows are described as yellowed but transparent.
The factory 15-inch steel wheels wear polished trim rings that exhibit curb rash and denting depicted in the gallery. Dunlop Signature II tires.
The interior features tan upholstery on reclining bucket seats with a matching boot cover, door cards, and carpeting. The seat foam was replaced at some point and the seats are supportive and comfortable there is a small rip in the drivers seat.
Original Smiths gauges and original walnut dashboard fascia look good with the speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows just over 34k miles (mileage is believed to be correct).
The original 2.5-liter inline-six is mated to its original four-speed manual transmission. A tuneup and oil change were performed in March 2019, at which time the twin Stromberg carburetors were disassembled and cleaned, a new battery was installed, and some hoses were replaced.
Paperwork from the original purchase shows a base port-of-entry price of $4,595 and a total of $5,003 as optioned with an AM/FM Multiplex stereo, Michelin radial tires, and a tonneau cover. The British Leyland freight charge added $110.
Other records, brochures, manuals, and receipts (including letters of a back and forth with complaints to British Leyland) come with the car, documenting its history.
Buy with confidence, as the 1974 Triumph is a low mileage, extremely original car that would make a fine addition to any collection. Call 203 256 9800 or email [email protected] if we can answer any questions you may have.
