1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible “show quality restoration, possibly the finest in the world

The car on offer here is this spectacular restored 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible. The quality of this car cannot be overstated, it is in “show” condition and may be the finest on the market today.

Finished in River Blue Metallic over black leatherette, the car is powered by its original 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a black soft top as well an EMPI carburetor conversion, dual front brakes and 15″ steel wheels,

The car was restored in its original River Blue Metallic and features a black convertible top and top boot. All chrome and rubber seals are in showroom condition. The front trunk and rear battery compartment are carpet lined and beautiful.

Correct, 15″ chrome steel wheels wear chrome VW hubcaps and are mounted with Michelin X Radial tires. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by FRONT DISC BRAKES and rear drum brakes the car stops with authority.

The interior is in near new condition, the black front bucket seats and rear bench are restored and are excellent. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard, and additional appointments include a cabin heater, crank windows, and a Concord cassette stereo.
The four-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and fronts a 100-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge along with an analog clock. The speedos shows 559 miles that is believed to be on the restoration and the car is being sold as true mileage is unknown.
The rebuilt air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque and features EMPI DUAL CARBURETOR CONVERSION and Petronics ignitions. The car starts easily and drives as it should.
